IT’s production of Beauty and the Beast will be realistic in its look, elegant costuming, and carefully developed characterization. Though the story is a classic type of fairy tale, it will be presented by an ensemble cast in a believable and “non-cartoon/non-melodramatic” style. Though some characters are fantastic in appearance, they will be developed to be sincere and sympathetic. The scenery will include a castle, village square, and a forest. It will be simple in form and design, but enhanced by dramatic lighting and special effects. The music accompaniment will be a professionally produced orchestra CD backing track.
