El Dorado County Fair Idol
Thursday, June 18 beginning at 2:30 pm.
All contestants shall perform at a preliminary competition being held on the Main Stage on Thursday, June 18 beginning at 2:30 pm. Ten finalists shall be chosen to perform at the final competition on Sunday, June 21 at 2:00 pm. on the Main Lawn Stage. The winner shall be sponsored by the El Dorado County Fair to participate in the regional competition, date & location TBD.
Pre-registration by Thursday, June 18 is required.

A Clinic will be offered for those interested at 1:00 pm at the same location.
$35 fee, limit to 12 riders.

Plein Air Painting
Friday, June 19
Pre-registration by June 17 is required.
What is Plein Air Painting you ask? Plein Air translates to “open air. This term is used to describe paintings that have been created outdoors, rather than in the studio. Photo references are not used. Come to the Fair and capture the fun and excitement of fair time on your canvas!
Check-in at the Fine Arts Department between Noon and 2pm
located in the Corker Building
Artwork to be completed and in Corker Building by 6 PM for judging.
Awards presentation 7:00 pm Artwork will be on display until 8:00pm
Prizes: 1st Place - $100 • 2nd Place - $75 • 3rd Place – $25
Cash prizes will only be paid if there are 5 exhibitors or more.

Capture the fun and excitement of the 2009 El Dorado County Fair with your digital camera or camera phone.
RULES
1. Check in and pay at the Fine Arts/Photography Building
anytime between Noon and 8 p.m. on Friday, June 19. At
that time, you will be given the e-mail address to e-mail your
best photo to us.
2. Take a photograph at the Fair with your digital camera
or camera phone between Noon and Midnight on
Friday, June 19. Photos may be taken at any public
location on the Fairgrounds. Examples: Livestock,
carnival, entertainment, exhibits, etc.
3. If taking a photo of a person and not a “crowd,” you
must get their permission to use photo and supplyname and phone number of person in order for the Fair
to verify permission to use and post photo on web site
4. E-mail your best photo to the e-mail address provided at
check in. Photos MUST be e-mailed. Photos e-mailed
to any Other, not listed above address will be
disqualified.
5. Photos must be e-mailed to web site no later than 10:00
a.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2009.
6. Include your name and class number listed below when
you e-mail photo. If using a photo of people or a
person that is not in a “crowd,” provide the
people/person’s name and phone number to verify use
of said photo.
7. Photos may NOT be altered with the exception of
cropping or normal color or density balancing and
spotting (i.e., red eye).
8. Winners will be posted in the Fine Arts/Photography
Building by 5:00 p.m., Saturday, June 20, 2009.
9. By entering in this competition, the exhibitor agrees that
any photograph submitted may be used by the El
Dorado County Fair on web sites, future publications
and promotions without compensation to exhibitor.
10. Cash awards will be available for pick up in the Fair
office, no earlier than Monday, June 22, 9 – 4 p.m.
Checks not picked up will not be mailed and will be
forfeited after 60 days.
Mutton Bustin'

Mutton Bustin' will begin at 6:30 pm

Limited to 36 Busters.
18 slots will be reserved for El Dorado County residents.
$35 entry includes T-shirt and one adult admission into the Fair.

A minimum of 50 lbs. of ore must be carried in the large wheelbarrow over course “C”.
Women’s Race
Open to Women 18 years and older.

1st - $500 + Certificate

A minimum of 30 lbs. of ore must be carried in the large wheelbarrow over course “B”.
911 Firehouse Team Challenge
2 person Fire Station Team. Entry fee - $25 on or before 6/1/09 $40 after.
The first team member starts the race and hands off the wheelbarrow,
gold pan and ore midway through the course. The partner then finishes the race.
1st - $250 + Certificate • 2nd - $100 + Certificate • 3rd - $50 + Certificate

In 1879, In order to encourage county residents to participate in the State Fair, the railroad offered to transport livestock entries from El Dorado to Sacramento for free, and people at half price.
